March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month!

Problem Gambling Awareness Month (PGAM), celebrated nationwide, focuses on raising awareness of problem gambling, promoting prevention, treatment, and recovery services, and encourages healthcare provider client screenings for problem gambling.

This year’s theme, Every Story Matters, is a reminder that every narrative, battle and triumph related to problem gambling is significant. Just as every tale of triumph is meaningful, so too are the stories of resilience and healing. These Stories may include the initial allure of gambling, the spiral into addiction, the impact on relationships and finances, and the journey towards recovery. By highlighting the importance of Every Story we validate the lived experiences of those affected by problem gambling. In recognizing the interconnectedness of addiction and recovery, we recognize that struggles with addiction span a spectrum of behaviors and substances and invite all voices to be heard!

Let’s make a difference together!

Gambling Disorder Screening Day

Screening Day is an international initiative designed to support providers in the identification of Gambling Disorder. Gambling Disorder can lead to many impacts and consequences, yet many cases of Gambling Disorder go undetected, due to limited assessment for this problem.

Screening Day brings awareness to the importance of detecting gambling-related problems as early as possible. We invite mental health professionals, treatment agencies, and any other interested organizations to participate in Gambling Disorder Screening Day on March 12th, or another day in March!

Email programs@nevadacouncil.org if interested in participating.
