SEE ‘HOPE’ WALKING!

Bea LH popup CROP
Bea Aikens, Founder Lanie’s Hope

This year’s Walk in Memory, Walk for Hope was an amazing and inspiring experience for all who joined together to promote awareness and prevention of suicide AND to recognize the high risk of suicide among problem gamblers. Kudos to the Nevada Coalition for Suicide Prevention and the Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention for another successful and powerful awareness event!

Bea Aikens, founder of Lanie’s Hope, shared words of encouragement and honored the memory of her sister Lanie, who committed suicide as a result of despair over her gambling addiction.  Bea’s honesty and openness gave everyone at the event a glimpse into the real world of problem gambling – both the power of the addiction and the HOPE of recovery.  Check out the video of her remarks HERE.

Thanks to all our advocates, volunteers and community partners who take the time to support this important public awareness event.  As Bea noted, many of you became a part of this “family” through no choice of your own, but you care, you share, and you give HOPE to all who are affected by problem gambling and suicide.
