When the Fun Stops Employee Training – Las Vegas

WHEN THE FUN STOPS™ – Employee Awareness Training

Open Enrollment Class – Individual gaming employees may register to attend.  Participation card will be issued to employees upon completion of class to verify attendance.  This program can be relied upon by gaming licensees to satisfy the requirement for employee training under NV Gaming Regulation 5.170 – Programs to Address Problem Gambling.

WHEN THE FUN STOPS™ is a one-hour training program that provides the information your employees need to know about the nature and symptoms of problem gambling and the resources available for help.  A unique feature of this training module is a 23-minute video which explores the phenomenon of problem gambling through the expertise of a Nevada treatment professional and the experiences of four Nevada residents who are successfully dealing with their own gambling problem.

  • Individuals must preregister for the class, held at the Council’s Las Vegas training facility.
  • REGISTER NOW by completing the form below and returning it to the Council with payment of the $35 registration fee.

Project Homeless Connect (Las Vegas)

The Nevada Homeless Alliance’s signature event is Project Homeless Connect, a service and resource fair for the homeless and low income. Services provided aim to break down barriers to housing and self sufficiency, including but not limited to shelter, health care, legal issues, job readiness, food and behavioral health.  PHC includes more than 100 service providers and 700 community volunteers who serve more than 3,000 individuals per event. Thia event will focus on serving not only those who are currently homeless, but those at risk of homelessness.

“Insights and Perspectives for Problem Gamblers with Adult ADHD”

There is some research indicating a disproportionate number of problem gamblers also meet diagnostic criteria for adult ADHD. There are unique aspects of this comorbidity that can be challenging for mental health providers. In this webinar, Dr. Reid will discuss assessment issues for ADHD based on the DSM-5 criteria among problem gamblers. The latest findings from the scientific literature about ADHD will also be addressed. Finally, Dr. Reid will offer pragmatic solutions and empirically supported interventions for problem gamblers with ADHD.

Presented By Dr. Rory C. Reid, Ph.D., LCSW

Rory ReidDr. Rory C. Reid holds a master’s degree in Social Work and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology with a dual emphasis in neuropsychology and marriage and family therapy. He completed his clinical internship in the Department of Family Medicine at UCLA and a post-doctoral fellowship in the UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. He now holds a position as an Assistant Professor and Research Psychologist with the Gambling Studies Program in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA. Dr. Reid is also part of the Harvard Medical School Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard University. Dr. Reid has worked with hundreds of patients over the past decade seeking help for impulse control disorders including problem gambling and hypersexual behavior. He also conducts research exploring various neuropsychological facets of impulsivity among populations reporting behavioral dysregulation and is investigating the effectiveness of mindfulness interventions and mechanisms of action using neuroimaging. His work has been featured in press outlets such as the New York Times, TIME magazine, WebMD, Men’s Health, as well as TV specials aired on ABC, CBS, and Fox News. Dr. Reid has also published numerous articles on gambling disorders in scientific journals.
