Join us to learn about the “human” side of problem gambling, as peers and professionals share how and why they became engaged in promoting awareness and taking action to address this important community health issue in Nevada.

Come mingle with people in recovery, professionals in the field, and many other people and community resources!

Special Guests

William Hung, Entertainer, Motivational Speaker

William Hung gained fame on the third season of “American Idol” in 2004 with his memorable audition of “She Bangs,” which led to a career in music and entertainment. He would later become a motivational speaker and ultimately took a job with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as a Statistical Analyst.

After his entertainment career slowed down, he developed a serious gambling problem that impacted many areas of his life.  Join us as William shares his journey from Hong Kong to California, from studying civil engineering to a career in entertainment and law enforcement, and his story of gambling addiction and recovery.

Rory Reid, PhD, LCSW, ICGC-II

William will be joined by Dr. Rory Reid, a Research Psychologist with the UCLA Gambling Studies Program and Internationally Certified Gambling Counselor to discuss William’s recovery journey and how it differs from other concepts of recovery that many are more familiar with. A question-and-answer session with attendees will follow.

People Article: Hung opens up to PEOPLE about overcoming his darkest moments — and how he found a new start
