WEBINAR:  Using SBIRT for Problem Gambling in the Military

Description: This free webinar will provide an overview of SBIRT and how it is used. In addition, the incidence of Problem Gambling (PG) in military/veteran populations will be noted. How SBIRT can be successfully used in treatment addressing problem gambling in military/veteran settings will be focused on. Furthermore, PG as a Co-occurring Disorder will be covered.

Learning Objectives: As a result of participating in this webinar, you will be able to:

  1. Understand the SBIRT protocol;
  2. Understand Problem Gambling in the military; and
  3. Learn how to use SBIRT to address Problem Gambling in military settings.

Presented By: 

Larry Ashley Ed.S, LPC, LMSW, is a Professor Emeritus of Counseling at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Addiction Specialist at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. He has over 40 years of experience as a Researcher, University Professor, and Therapist in the areas of Addiction and Trauma. Professor Ashley specializes in the treatment of Combat Trauma related issues. He has trained US Army therapists in Europe and the US. In addition, he has presented and offered trainings relative combat related PTSD in America and many foreign countries and developed the first course on Combat Trauma at an American University. He has a special interest in the impact of war on soldiers worldwide. Professor Ashley is an US Army Vietnam veteran.
