\nJoin us to learn abou t the “human” side of problem gambling\, as peers and professionals share how and why they became engaged in promoting awareness and taking action t o address this important community health issue in Nevada.
\nWilliam Hung gained fame on the third season of “American Idol” in 2004 with his memorable audition of “She Bangs\,” which led to a career in music and ent ertainment. He would later become a motivational speaker and ultimately to ok a job with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as a Statistical Analyst.
\nAfter his entertainment career slowed down\, he develope d a serious gambling problem that impacted many areas of his life. Join u s as William shares his journey from Hong Kong to California\, from studyi ng civil engineering to a career in entertainment and law enforcement\, an d his story of gambling addiction and recovery.
\nWilliam will be joined by Dr. Rory Reid\, a Research Psychologist with the UCLA Gambling Studies Program and Internationally Certified Gambling Counselor to discuss William’s recovery journey and how it differs from ot her concepts of recovery that many are more familiar with. A question-and- answer session with attendees will follow.
